Call for applications for event sponsorship in Auckland
Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) is calling for applications from interested parties looking for sponsorship of major events in Auckland.
The annual sponsorship window is open from now until 5 February 2012 and applications are open to any major event proposed to be held in Auckland between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2013.
Jennah Wootten, Manager Major Events, says ATEED is open to a variety of new and different events through to the city’s iconic events.
“Auckland has hosted a high calibre of events in the past 12 months including the ITU Triathlon, New Zealand Fashion Week, Lantern Festival, FIH 2011 Champions Trophy and Auckland Cup Week. ATEED wants to consolidate and build an even stronger portfolio of dynamic events in 2012 that aligns closely with our recently adopted Major Events Strategy,” says Jennah.
“Major events benefit residents and visitors alike enabling economic growth as well as developing the social and cultural aspects of Auckland.”
There is a capped fund and sponsorship priority will be given to events with the strongest alignment to Auckland’s Major Events Strategy, a document which provides a framework to evaluate major events and develop a portfolio to help the region achieve both its economic and social aspirations.
It aims to build Auckland into a global events destination resulting in economic benefits for the region, while also shaping it to be a more interesting and vibrant place for its residents, in line with the Mayor’s vision for Auckland.
“My vision is to transform Auckland into the world’s most liveable city. Events not only attract visitors from beyond our borders and help grow the economy, they also bring to Auckland the excitement, culture and entertainment that Aucklanders want in their region,” says Mayor Len Brown.
Sponsorship decisions will be released between March and May 2012.
