Events Special Projects Coordinator
Part Time - 30 hours
The Events and Community Development team provides strategic advice, support, development and funding for the events and community sectors of Dunedin.
The Events Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for co-ordinating all aspects of selected events that are of strategic significance to Dunedin. This includes bidding for events and working with stakeholders to ensure maximum benefit is achieved for the city, providing advice and support to the events industry and contributing to the development of Council's Festivals and Events Strategy.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the planning and successful co-ordination of major events and festivals, including monitoring of expenditure and supervision of temporary staff. This role will be responsible for the successful delivery of Cricket World Cup 2015 and FIFA U20 World Cup 2015. The ability to interact effectively with staff in other Council departments, local and national stakeholders is essential. A tertiary qualification in Events Management is desirable, as is previous experience in securing events sponsorship and funding. Good computer skills and the ability to provide written reports are also expected.

Fourteen countries spanning one fifth of the world’s population will compete for it. Hundreds of millions will view it. And just one team will make it happen. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is cricket’s flagship event, which will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand in February and March 2015.
To ensure the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 sets a world class benchmark in sporting event delivery across the two nations, we are building a Local Organising Committee (LOC) of leading professionals in Melbourne (Australia) and Wellington (New Zealand) to shape the event throughout the full lifecycle.
This is a unique opportunity for you to join the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 team, as the Team Services Coordinator in New Zealand. Within this role you will work with key stakeholders to ensure Team and Match Official services are planned and delivered in line with ICC specifications and LOC requirements. This will include services such as accommodation, travel, logistics, catering and other support services.
This is a pivotal role within our cricket operations team, assisting the NZ Cricket Operations Manager in the planning phases through to operational delivery during tournament time. This role will build strong relationships with the Teams and Match Officials to ensure all services required are delivered to the highest standard.
To be successful in this role, ideally you have come from a sporting or major events organisation with experience in multi-venue tournaments/events. Attention to detail and strong communication experience is a must for the successful candidate. You will have an understanding of cricket, with strong stakeholder management ability, displaying a high level of professionalism at all times. A tertiary education is desirable but not essential.
This is a great chance to join us in our Wellington based office on a fixed term contract until March/April 2015, and play an important part in delivering sporting history across Australia and New Zealand.
