Business Development and Communications Manager

 

Lakes Leisure is involved in the management and delivery of sporting, cultural and community programmes & events at Queenstown Lakes District community facilities.

Lakes Leisure is sad to announce the departure of our current manager from the district; however as a result, an exciting opportunity now exists for a highly competent Business Development and Communications Manager to join our busy team.

The successful candidate will have previous experience within the private sector to enable them to capitalise on opportunities and their communication skills and understanding of the public sector will ensure the community are fully informed of all activities and services at their disposal.

Key to the role is the ability to maximise participation in, and use of, Lakes Leisure managed facilities throughout Queenstown and Wanaka. Working alongside departmental managers, the Business Development & Communications Manager will have proficient communication, marketing and business development skills. The preferred candidate will ideally possess strategic development skills as they will be responsible for managing sponsorship and funding strategies.

In addition, the ideal candidate will:
• Have strong account management experience
• Be a skilled communicator having worked closely with media
• Have the ability to establish and grow business & relationships across a broad range of markets
• Have high levels of integrity along with drive and passion to succeed
• Have a high level of computer (including design programmes), website and administration skills
• Be a team player

Event Manager

 

Lakes Leisure is involved in the management and delivery of sporting, cultural and community programmes & events at Queenstown Lakes District community facilities. We deal with a wide variety of event operations ranging from venue management to full operational delivery and promotion of major public events. Lakes Leisure is also responsible for operating and delivering ticketing services for the region.

Lakes Leisure is sad to announce the departure of our current manager from the district; however as a result, an exciting opportunity now exists for a highly competent Event Manager with the ability to attract, organise and run event operations in the Queenstown Lakes District.

The successful candidate will have proven event operational expertise, be able to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, have strong negotiation skills, an eye for detail and excellent events execution.

Effective organisation, communication, presentation skills are essential, as will having project management, ticketing and financial expertise. The successful candidate will have a high level of strategic understanding as you will be contributing to the development of Lakes Leisure’s Event Strategy.

Our ideal candidate will:
• A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a senior event role, ideally from a public events background
• Proven large event operational management skills
• Outstanding people, communication, management, leadership and customer service skills
• Have a passion for events and be a team player
